ECG
ECG/2G Echo
An echocardiogram is a non-invasive procedure that helps us assess the heart’s function with its structure. During the process, the transducer sends high-frequency waves and is kept on the chest at specific locations and angles. As a result, the moving image of heart walls and valves is created.
Who Takes an ECG Test?
An echocardiogram is performed while an individual is struggling with the following health concerns:
- Atherosclerosis
- Cardiomyopathy
- Heart failure
- Aneurysm
- Heart valve disease
- Cardiac tumour
- Pericarditis
- Pericardial effusion or tamponade
- Atrial or septal wall defects
- Shunts
Treatment options are recommended after assessing the existing situation via Echocardiogram.
How is Echocardiogram Performed?
A special gown is provided to the patients, and the process is carried on the table. Patients have to remain on their left side. Ultrasound gel is applied to various areas of the chest wall, the ultrasound probe moves on the chest, and the pictures are taken.
How Much Time Does it Take to Perform Echocardiogram?
It takes 20 minutes to complete the Echocardiogram test. This time has been divided into 5 minutes of preparation time and 15 minutes to take the pictures. In certain cases, specific information is needed, so the test durations might stretch a bit.
